The twin towning between Duisburg and Portsmouth had anniversary in 2000. She persisted for 50 years. The society "HoKuDu e.V." took that for reason to organize a special event: A bus trip to Portsmouth over Easter. The unbelievable number of 32 gays (sadly no lesbians ?!) among others from 6 gay groups out of Duisburg came together for the tour.

It started on thursday night. After a long and exhausting bus ride and in best mood we arrived Good Friday morning in Portsmouth, where Scott und Robert from the local gay group awaited us. With greetings from the Mayor of Duisburg and official presents the trip continued to the impressive town hall. There the Mayor and his wife receipted us in the representive hall of mirrors with a friendly salutory and tea. By that the official part of the trip was completed and the discovery of the town and the cultivating of contacts could start.

During the whole weekend Scott und Robert did not left our side and made nearly all wishes coming reality. Following highlights are to mention especially: Scott´s and Robert´s guiding through the gay scene of Portsmouth; the visit of London at Holy Saturday; the contest to Mr. Gay UK in a gay club in Portsmouth (why cannot we do that in Duisburg too ?); the sightseeing walkabout through Portsmouth on Easter Sunday; and the goodbye-party with an opulent refreshment stall. In the night to Easter Monday we had to start travelling back to Duisburg, zapped, impressed and with melancholy due to the growing distance to some exciting adventures. Anyway the trip was great. We all had much fun. Particularly we offer a great big ''thanks!'' to Scott und Robert !
